Expectations List for Performers and Staff at Tin Roof Venue

INTRODUCTION

Tin Roof is committed to providing a quality experience for both artists and audiences. To ensure that the venue runs smoothly and is safe for everyone, we have established a set of expectations. This list serves as a guideline for anyone who performs, books, works, or engages with the venue. Please read through this carefully and adhere to the following rules and expectations.

GENERAL CONDUCT

Be Respectful to the Venue and Staff: All performers and staff are expected to treat the venue, its property, and its employees with respect.

    • Any form of vandalism, mistreatment of equipment, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the venue. There is absolutely no crowd surfing allowed in the space.

Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional attitude before, during, and after the performance. All communication should be respectful and any criticism constructive.

TIME-MANAGEMENT

Load-In Time: Performers are allowed to load in their equipment up to 2 hours before the scheduled start time of the show.

    • Don’t load equipment on the stage unless you are performing first.

    • Early or late load-ins may not be accommodated due to scheduling conflicts or staffing concerns.

End Time: Due to noise ordinances, all shows must end by 11:30 PM.

    • Any overrun may result in penalties for the performing act and may affect future bookings.

    • Punctuality: Please be punctual for your load-in and soundcheck times as well as your allocated performance slot.

PARKING

No Parking on Side of Building: To ensure smooth traffic flow and adhere to local laws, no parking is allowed on the side of the building. (Hobart Ave.)

    • Alternate parking options will be provided or suggested by the venue.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Smoking and Drug Use: Smoking cannabis or any form of drug use is strictly prohibited on Tin Roof property. 

Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited.

    • Violation of these rules can result in immediate expulsion from the venue and may affect future bookings.

BOOKING POLICY

No Back-to-Back Bookings: Performers are prohibited from booking another show at Tin Roof or any venue in the area one week before or after the scheduled performance date.

    • This is to ensure a varied lineup and avoid market saturation for individual artists.

Cancellation Policy: Performers must provide at least 48 hours' notice for any cancellations.

    • Failure to do so may result in a penalty and could affect future booking opportunities.

PROMOTION & ADVERTISING

Promotion: Performers are expected to actively participate in the promotion of their event through social media or other channels, in collaboration with Tin Roof’s own promotional efforts. Here is a Media Contact List for Charleston’s papers, radio, and media outlets.

Flyers for Event: All promotional flyers for the event must be turned in to the venue at least one month before the scheduled show date.

    • Failure to do so may affect the promotion of the event and could lead to consequences as deemed appropriate by the venue.

FINANCIALS: DOOR MONEY DISTRIBUTION

Door Money: The venue will collect the admission fees ("door money") from attendees.

    • Specific arrangements for the split of door money between the venue and the performers should be discussed and agreed upon in advance.

Underage Patron Fees: Shows that allow underage patrons may require an additional charge.

    • This fee will be clearly communicated in advance and will be part of the door money collected.

VENUE SUPPLIES

Door Guy and Sound Guy: Tin Roof will provide a designated door guy to manage admissions and a sound guy to handle the audio requirements. Both are paid by the venue.(On weekends or shows with more than (3) acts, $25 from the door will go to the sound engineer.)

    • Performers and staff are not responsible for these roles unless explicitly agreed upon in advance.

Extra Security: For shows that require additional security measures, the venue will arrange for extra security personnel.(On shows with potentially more than 70 attendees)

    • Costs associated with extra security will either be deducted from the door money or billed separately, as agreed upon.

MISCELLANEOUS

Merchandise: If you plan to sell merchandise, please coordinate with the venue staff in advance to designate an area for your merchandise table.

Promotion: Performers are expected to actively participate in the promotion of their event through social media or other channels, in collaboration with Tin Roof’s own promotional efforts.

OUTSIDE FOOD

There is no outside food allowed to be brought in or sold on the property unless previously discussed with the venue. 

COMPLIANCE AND PENALTIES

Failure to comply with the above expectations may result in penalties, up to and including immediate expulsion from the venue and barring from future bookings. We reserve the right to update these expectations at any time; performers and staff are responsible for staying informed of any changes.
